Telefilm Canada PITCH THIS! returns for its 13th consecutive year and takes place during the Toronto International Film Festival on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. This is your chance to bring a feature-film project to life. All genres and styles of presentation are permitted. The most original and compelling story will be awarded the prize. Six teams will have six minutes to pitch their feature film idea to a live audience of industry delegates and a jury of development and production experts.
Submission Criteria
- Applicants need to be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
- At least one of the pitch team members needs to meet one (!) of the following criteria:
+ Alumni of Talent Lab at the Toronto International Film Festival;
+ Director or Producer of a short or feature film selected for a previous edition of the Toronto International Film Festival;
+ Director or Producer of a short or feature film selected for a previous edition of Canada's Top Ten;
+ Director or Producer of a short or feature film selected for a previous edition of TIFF Kids International Film Festival for Children; OR
+ Finalist in previous editions of Telefilm Canada PITCH THIS!
Note that the cost of travel to Toronto is the responsibility of the individual. Application deadline is Wednesday, May 30, 2012. ONE submission per applicant. Please answer all the questions accurately and upload all requested documents in order to ensure your eligibility. Applications must be submitted in English.
Selection Process
A jury of industry professionals will review all applications and select six teams to participate in the final competition. All applicants will be notified about the status of their application by end of July.
The selected teams will have the month of August to prepare for the competition in September and will be assigned a veteran industry insider as a pitching coach.
The Live Pitch
Each team will pitch their polished ideas to a live audience. The jury will meet afterwards to choose the winner.
The Prize
The winning team will receive $10,000 to assist with the development of their feature film idea.
