Introduction: Governing boards of property owners associations and condominium unit owners associations in Virginia are not permitted to meet virtually unless at least two board members are physically present at the meeting location.  But, because of emergency legislation arising out of concerns related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, governing boards are now permitted to meet entirely by virtual means during Governor-declared states of emergency, subject to certain conditions.

This survey is intended to gather information concerning community association use of the virtual meeting emergency legislation, which is set to expire June 30, 2022.  Information gathered from this survey will be used to determine whether permanent legislation should be sought to enable community association boards to meet virtually.
