49th LD Housing Survey

When it comes to housing, what matters to you?

The legislature is working hard to pass bills that address the shortage of affordable housing, and make it easier for low- and middle-income families to find, afford, and stay in their homes. Here's a few of the bills that are currently moving through the legislature. Which ones do you think we should prioritize moving forward? What looks interesting to you?
1.What's your zip code?(Required.)
2.HB 1217 - Protects tenants from unreasonable rent increases while maintaining fair profitability for landlords. The bill prohibits landlords from raising rent during the first twelve months of a new tenant’s residency, and limits rent increases to no more than 7% during each following twelve-month period. Landlords can reset the rent to market rate with each new tenant.
3.HB 1195 - Directs cities to approve STEP (Shelters and Transitional, Emergency, & Permanent Supportive Housing) using an administrative design review that evaluates projects based on objective design and development standards as opposed to a longer design review process that includes a public hearing and can delay development.
4.HB 1491 - Updates existing land use policies and design review processes to make it easier to build more housing in areas served by mass transit and includes requirements and incentives for affordable and workforce housing units.
5.HB 1345 - Establishes regulations around building accessory dwelling units (ADUs) in lower-density and rural areas.
6.HB 1235 - Gives the Department of Commerce the authority to make sure cities are in compliance with housing requirements in the Growth Management Act.
