The MPI Indiana Excellence in Sustainability Award was created in 2024 to acknowledge and celebrate the impact an MPI Indiana chapter member or organization has made in the area of sustainability in regards to meeting and events. This award celebrates those who go beyond the ordinary, pushing the boundaries of sustainability and leaving a lasting positive footprint on both the planet and the communities they touch.

The award encompasses a holistic approach to event sustainability, recognizing excellence in three key areas:
  • Environmental Stewardship: Minimizing carbon footprint through eco-friendly transportation, venue selection, energy-efficient venues, and responsible waste management practices, and embracing
  • Community Impact & Social Responsibility: Supporting local businesses, fostering diversity and inclusion, and giving back to the communities where events take place.
  • Innovation and Inspiration: Pioneering creative solutions, setting new benchmarks for sustainability, and inspiring others to embrace greener practices.
 
This award will be judged by non-MPI Indiana Chapter Members.

Award Criteria:
  • Must be an MPI Indiana Chapter Preferred, Premiere or Student member 
  • Contributions must have been performed from January 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023
  • To be considered, a nomination or self-nomination by a chapter member must be submitted
  • Demonstration of emerging or sustained commitment to the values of sustainability by documented efforts that are above and beyond routine expectations. 
  • Significantly promote sustainability or sustainable event practices throughout the event planning process or within a company’s own team
  • Demonstrate measurable results and environmental/social impact
    Additional documentation or letters of support are encouraged
