SUMMARY

This new call for proposals aligns with the strategy of streamlining the programs of the Villa Albertine - the French Institute for Culture and Education of the French Embassy, and the Albertine Foundation. By launching this call for proposals, the Villa Albertine and the Albertine Foundation aim to enhance efficiency and focus on key areas of collaboration and support in education. Additionally, this effort is part of a broader commitment to optimize resources and better serve the needs of both French and American communities, fostering stronger bilateral relations and impactful outcomes.

The French Dual Language Fund (FDLF), managed by the Villa Albertine - the French Institute for Culture and Education of the French Embassy, and the Albertine Foundation, supports the existing and growing network of French bilingual schools through the creation of initiatives and allocation of grants to support pedagogical and cultural objectives (1), encourage cultural exchange through the French Teaching Intern program and grant (2), and implement professional learning opportunities (3).

Applicants may apply for these three different initiatives and grants by ranking their choices.

OVERVIEW OF AVAILABLE GRANTS AND INITIATIVES
  • Pedagogical Project Grant
We invite teachers and administrators of American K-12 public schools, school districts, PTAs, and local education agencies (LEA) to apply for a grant to support a specific project aimed at supporting French Dual Language and Immersion schools. Applicants may request funds for educational resources, cultural activities, and/or language certification.
  • Educational Resources include curriculum supports such as software, DVDs, subscription to TV5, etc. for your French class.
  • Organization of a Francophone Cultural Activity such as film screenings, workshops with francophone authors, theater clubs, and more.
  • The cost of Language Certification (DELF-DALF) may be covered by the grant, offsetting registration costs. The DELF or DALF exam (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française / Diplôme Approfondi en Langue Française) encompasses several types of DELF: DELF-DALF Junior and Scolaire (mainly for teenagers), and Prim (for children of primary school age). You can take the DELF/DALF exam at any of the 40 centers in the United States. Here is the list.
  • Opening of a new French DLI Program, Class, or Grade may be supported by the grant to fund curriculum development, classroom resources, cultural enrichment activities, and the DELF/DALF exam.
Please note that the grant cannot be used to purchase electronic devices (headphones, chromebooks...), food, or furniture.
  • French Teaching Intern Program and Grant
You will be able to apply to two initiatives: to host French teaching interns and for a grant to cover the associated costs.
OVERVIEW OF AVAILABLE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Ongoing training for DLI teachers is crucial to maintain high teaching standards, stay updated with DLI education best practices, and ensure effective language immersion for students. For this purpose, the French Embassy and the Albertine Foundation support ongoing professional development.

Please note that this is not a grant but rather an application for professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators respectively.
  • French For All Summer Institute
This initiative provides selected teachers with training in curriculum development, classroom management and use of resources specific to French DLI, as well as the opportunity to network and work closely with professionals in the field. The Embassy of France and the Albertine Foundation will cover the cost of the training, housing (private room and shared bathroom), and meals during the Summer Institute. Please note that participants are responsible for their own transportation costs.
  • French Dual Language Leadership Seminar
The French Dual Language Leadership Seminar is an event aimed at promoting and supporting French DLI education in the United States. This seminar brings together current leaders, administrators, advocates, and policymakers to discuss best practices, share resources, and develop strategies for enhancing French DLI education programs. The Villa Albertine and the Albertine Foundation will cover the cost of the training, housing, and lunches. Please note that participants are responsible for their own transportation costs and other meals.
