The Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC) is partnering with Peer Support Canada (PSC) to develop a pilot peer support program, with plans to eventually expand this service to all OPC Members. Peer support offers a safe space for individuals with shared experiences to connect and receive emotional, practical, and social support, reducing stress, isolation, and promoting well-being.
The peer support services will initially be available to two pilot groups: individuals who have been Assigned to Home (ATH) and individuals from a specific region (TBD).

In addition to the anonymous survey, you also can provide more detailed input through one-on-one conversations with Peer Support Canada staff. PSC staff are particularly keen to hold one to one conversations with folks who have ATH experiences, to better understand the challenges and nuances of these circumstances. All PSC staff members are individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges, and we’ve received training to be able to use those experiences to facilitate compassionate, non-judgmental conversations. We are also able to facilitate the inclusion of a Protective Services Team member from OPC in the conversation with Peer Support Canada staff, if that is the preference of the Member.
