Due to the attendance limitations necessary to maintain six (6) feet physical distancing in classrooms and on buses, our schools are planning to provide instruction using a hybrid schedule of a reduced in-school schedule and remote learning. However, the primary means of instruction will be conducted remotely using RCPS online learning resources. If/when guidance from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) allows for increased capacity, students will transition to attending school in person more regularly.
Public Health Professionals have made it clear that it is not possible to have a no-risk environment during a global pandemic. We are committed to providing families with options depending on the level of risk they choose to assume. We anticipate that some families will be reluctant to send their students to school until a COVID-19 vaccine and/or more effective treatment alternatives are approved and available. RCPS will provide a remote learning option for families who choose this “lowest risk” option.
