SURVEY FOR EMPLOYEES & SOLE TRADERS

Have your say about how housing issues are affecting workers in Dumfries & Galloway and Scottish Borders, and those who wish to relocate to the region.

[If you are an employer, including sole traders with staff, please compete our separate employers' survey]

Access to suitable housing is an important consideration when applying for a new job or thinking about whether you want to – or can – stay in your current post. Some employers in the South of Scotland have indicated that a lack of the right housing in the right place is causing problems when it comes to recruiting and retaining staff.

To understand more precisely what the need and demand for housing might be, we are conducting research across a sample of sectors.

We wish to hear from you if you work in Scottish Borders / Dumfries & Galloway – or wish to relocate there for work – especially if you work in any of these sectors:
  • Health and social care
  • Education
  • Public administration
  • Fire, ambulance, police and prison services
  • Electricity or mains gas infrastructure
  • Water supply/sewerage
  • Waste collection, treatment and disposal
  • Telecommunications infrastructure
  • Transport
  • Farming and forestry
  • Tourism and hospitality
  • Housing with associated care and support services
There are up to 21 questions and it should take less than 10 minutes to complete the survey.

We will not ask for your name or contact details. We will store your responses securely and publish the research results anonymously so that individuals cannot be identified.

The research is being conducted by Scottish Borders Council, Dumfries & Galloway Council, South of Scotland Enterprise, Scottish Futures Trust and South of Scotland Community Housing. Please direct any enquiries to Chris Dalglish at SoSCH (chris.dalglish@sosch.org).
