1. Introduction

The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) is updating its online guidance for stammering and cluttering (previously known as 'dysfluency').

We are seeking feedback on the draft content in order to refine the information. We invite both RCSLT members (speech and language therapists - SLTs) and the public to provide feedback on the draft information. This survey is specifically to review the stammering guidance which is split into the following sections:
  • Draft summary (target audience: SLTs) - 16 pages
  • Draft guidance (target audience: SLTs) - 13 pages
  • Draft resources (target audience: SLTs) - 11 pages
  • Draft overview (target audience: people who stammer and their family/friends, other health and education professionals, general public) - 14 pages
  • Draft position statement (target audience: managers and commissioners of speech and language therapy services) - 4 pages
Please complete this survey to provide your feedback on the draft content. Please ensure you refer to the section where you are suggesting amendments (e.g. section number or heading) and if you disagree with any content, please explain your reasons and suggest alternative wording. Where you would like to support your response with a reference please provide either the full reference or a link to the webpage where it is available.

The questions are optional and you do not need to review all of the drafts. There will be a question at the start of each section asking if you would like to review that section - if you choose not to, it will skip to the next section. Progress will automatically be saved by pressing the next button, you can return to the form at a later date using the same weblink as long as you are using the same device. Responses can be edited until the closing date.

There is a separate consultation survey for the cluttering guidance which you can access here.

The deadline for responding is Wednesday 30th April 2025 at 12pm.

Please note:
  • All content will be edited and proof-read prior to publication - please do not provide feedback on typos, spelling and/or grammatical errors.
  • If you have any questions about the consultation, please contact lorna.baxter@rcslt.org
