SCOTTISH LAW AGENTS SURVEY IN RESPECT OF THE SCOTTISH LEGAL COMPLAINTS COMMISSION

1.Do you believe that the current system for lodging complaints against solicitors is fit for purpose in Scotland?
2.In your view, is the current method for handling and managing complaints effective and efficient?
3.Do you think that the necessary skills and diligence required for managing complaints are appropriately handled by the SLCC?
4.Have you encountered any SLCC complaints (either directly or indirectly)? If so, could you describe your experience with the process?(Required.)
5.Are complaints addressed in a fair and transparent manner for both individuals and solicitors?
6.Does the existing complaint structure have an impact on your mental health?
7.Should individuals be required to pay a fee to lodge a complaint with the SLCC?
8.Should the eligibility of complaints, particularly those involving complex legal matters, be reviewed by legally qualified individuals rather than the current system of lay individuals?
9.Do you have confidence that the SLCC will effectively filter out spurious, meritless, or vexatious complaints before they are admitted?
10.Are you considering leaving the profession due to the pressures associated with the current regulatory system?
11.Do you think it is fair that the SLCC has the power to waive periods of prescription?
12.Should an appeal of an SLCC decision be determined in the Sheriff Court, or Sheriff Appeal Court, as opposed to the Court of Session?
