Healthcare Administration Leadership Skills Assessment |
Introduction Leadership Skills Self-Assessment
This is a personal assessment for you, the student, to self-rate your skills according to the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) - Health Leadership Competency Model 3.0 (www.nchl.org). The MHA leadership team has chosen this model for the comprehensive set of skills and the research that has been referenced to develop the model.
Please read through the leadership skills and choose one answer that best describes your perception of your current skills. The questions are to be answered based on your self-rating or self-perception of current skills from the NCHL model, not where you hope to be by the end of the program or with more work experiences. The answers do build upon each other so pick the highest number. Example, if you feel you are practicing at level 3, you also are demonstrating levels 1 and 2 in your professional skills. If you do not have experience in the skill, mark the "1. Answer ..." as your selection
SAVE YOUR RESULTS: At the end of the survey, it will show your first set of results (approximately comparative answers to the first 15 questions), PRINT to PDF all of the results for use in classes. To save a copy of your specific results, you will need to record your answers on a blank copy of the survey provided in classes or by contacting mhaprogramdirector@mail.waldenu.edu.
The results from this survey will provide useful information, not limited to, course-related activities and assignments, but can aid in personal/professional development opportunities and job/skills performance activities.
All answers are completely confidential and you will be provided a summary once the survey is completed. Thank you for your time.
Note: The NCHL model refers to the skills as "competencies", these are not to be confused with the Walden Competency Based Learning modality ("Tempo"). Although if you are in the MHA Tempo program, you will see that the skills listed here, do relate to the different competencies or courses in your program.
