Understanding Volunteerism

Hello!

We invite you to participate in a survey aimed at understanding the perspectives of those working in nonprofit organizations regarding volunteerism. Your insights will help us gain a deeper understanding of the what, how, and why of volunteerism today, particularly from the viewpoint of organizations that rely on volunteer support.

Purpose
The goal of this survey is to gather information about the experiences and opinions of nonprofit professionals on volunteerism. We want to learn about the motivations of volunteers, the methods of volunteer engagement, and the challenges and opportunities organizations face in supporting volunteers.

Key Concepts

Formal volunteering refers to volunteer activities that are conducted through an organization or group. This type of volunteering is typically structured, meaning that the activities are organized, and volunteers often have specific roles and responsibilities. Organizations that facilitate formal volunteering can include nonprofit organizations, schools, hospitals, community groups, religious institutions, environmental organizations, and many more.

Informal volunteering refers to volunteer activities that are not coordinated through an organization but are instead performed directly for individuals, families, or the community. This can include helping neighbors with errands, providing care for family members, or supporting friends in need.

Guidelines

This survey should take you around 25 minutes to complete. Your responses will be anonymous, and the questions will in no way be used to identify you. Your responses will be private and secure. Only Volunteer Alberta's research team will have access to the information you provide, and this information will be used solely for research and presentation purposes.

If you have any questions, please contact Darryl De Dios at ddedios@volunteeralberta.ab.ca
