Please read prior to applying to be a GEM Mentor

Dear GEM Mentor Applicant, 

Thank you for your interest in the 2022-23 GEM Mentorship Program. Please read the following before beginning your application. 

This program will run from September 2023 to May 2024. It will include a mentorship relationship with a self-identified high school girl in the Hamilton-Wentworth area.

PLEASE NOTE: 
1. This application is for individuals applying to be a GEM Mentor for the 2023-24 cohort, starting in September 2023. If you are in high school and are interested in applying to GEM as a Mentee, you can find your application here. 

2. ALL mentor candidates are required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Scan from their local police unit (according to place of residence - Hamilton Police Service) prior to the end of June 2023. This document can be dated no earlier than 2020. Please see instructions below for how to obtain this check if you do not already have one. 

PLEASE NOTE: Obtaining a Vulnerable Sector Check can take up to 6 weeks after the document is submitted. You will not be matched if you do not submit this check. 

3. Applying and interviewing with GEM does not guarantee you a spot in the upcoming cohort. Girls E-Mentorship has a comprehensive matching and screening process. Although you may be accepted into the program, you are not guaranteed to be matched with a Mentee. Mentor and Mentee matching is based on current cohort capacity and Mentee criteria (e.g. career aspirations, needs, hobbies, interests and residential location).

4. The waiver at the end of this application is mandatory. Your application is not complete until you have signed the waiver.

4. Successful Applicants Notified: August 2023
