Kansas Licensure Survey - ABMP
Kansas has the opportunity to adopt statewide licensure, and we want to hear from you. Please fill out this brief survey to let us know your thoughts about potential state massage licensing.
Background: Statewide massage licensure creates standardized massage therapy educational requirements, establishes qualifications and competencies for entry-level practitioners, and establishes a statewide scope of practice and guidelines that increases public protection and decreases a patchwork of local policies that limit massage therapists’ mobility and ability to practice across the state.
ABMP supports fair licensing laws and rules to increase public safety and minimize undue regulatory burden on practitioners. As of 2023, there are three completely unregulated states: Kansas, Wyoming, and Minnesota. California has voluntary certification and Vermont has a massage registration. ABMP is also in favor of uniform regulation across any given state as this reduces conflicting local regulations.
ABMP is also invested in hearing directly from our members and other massage therapists to inform our government relations activity, especially on a state and local level. We appreciate your valuable feedback.
