National Science Week is one of Australia's biggest festivals, with hundreds of events across the country annually. Last year saw over 2000 events across Australia, with thousands of attendees in the ACT alone!
We are calling for people or groups who are interested in and capable of coordinating a public event(s) to highlight and share Indigenous knowledge during National Science Week, 13-21 August 2022.
We would like the event to:
* highlight and share Indigenous knowledges
* be created by or in consultation with the Indigenous community
* be accessible and require few prohibitive resources to participate
The event has a budget of $2,000. As well as funding your event, this money could be used to widen the audience of your event, increase interactivity and accessibility, or improve production quality (e.g. AV equipment, platform subscriptions). It could also be used for small prizes and speaker honoraria etc. You are more than welcome to source external sponsorship or further in-kind contributions to increase the overall budget for the event. Please note that you will receive some promotion through ACT National Science Week as well as support with event planning, promotion, merchandise for prizes, and more.
If you think you can achieve these aims, we'd love to hear from you!
Please email us at actscienceweek@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Applications close 11:59pm AEST Sunday 5 June 202. Applicants will be notified of the outcome no later than Sunday 19 June 2022. We may contact applicants for further information on their proposals before making a final decision.
