Now more than ever, there is immense opportunity – and demand – for exploring, elevating, and building pipelines and pathways for forest sector professionals. The threats of climate change, globalization, and widespread development loom large for all types of forests across urban and rural settings. What the world needs now is more urban foresters, more city tree canopy managers, more natural resources professionals who demonstrate not only professional excellence, but pride and purpose in their work.

In order to continue to deliver the vast array of social, economic, and environmental benefits that healthy urban and community forests provide, we need to invest in the people who manage them and celebrate the traditional and non-traditional pathways they may take to get there.

Join us, in person, for a facilitated panel discussing the various pathways and pipelines to recruit and retain a purpose-driven workforce for urban and community forestry in the US. Post panel discussion, there will be an opportunity to discuss on-the-ground success stories and emerging best practices for building an inclusive and resilient workforce with experts in workforce and professional education.

In seeing the people and the trees, urban and community forest professionals can manage for the long-term resilience of urban forests, planning for future challenges to trees and communities alike with an understanding of how to meet the needs of urban and community spaces today.
