About this Survey

QQI is seeking to gain insight into the quality assurance of work-integrated learning in Ireland. Your organisation is being asked to complete this survey to help inform future work in this area, including the development of quality assurance guidelines in this area.

Common types of work-integrated learning include (but are not limited to) internships, placements, projects for employers, simulations, showcases or performances. Generally, the purpose of work-integrated learning is to assist learners to integrate theory into the meaningful practice of work by actively engaging them in purposeful work tasks.

Work-integrated teaching, learning and assessment activity may occur in the workplace, in the community, on-campus or online. It directly involves at least three stakeholders:

  • The learner;
  • The education provider;
  • The employer.

N.B. In this context, the employer provides an opportunity for work-related activity or supervised practice, but is not necessarily employing the learner. Additional stakeholder groups include (but are not limited to) Professional, Regulatory and Statutory Bodies, Industry Representative Bodies and Trade Unions.

Please note: This survey is designed for use by a diverse group of education providers across the full spectrum of further and higher education. For this reason, some of the terms used throughout may be unfamiliar as they may not be commonly used in your sector. Please do not be concerned if you do not see the exact term used in your organisation. The survey enables you to select an 'other' option and provide a free text response if none of the options provided are suitable.

This survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
