Greetings,
Georgia Society of Addiction Medicine (GSAM) volunteer structure is organized to take advantage of the expertise and energies of our members and to promote opportunities for deeper membership engagement. Members volunteer to share their passion and expertise and advance the profession by doing so.
The volunteer nomination and self-nomination process remains open through August 22, 2023.
GSAM committee members must be a member of GSAM/ASAM in good standing. Committee members have the overall responsibility for supporting the GSAM Board of Directors and carrying out the committee charges as set forth by the Board.
Committee members are expected to:
1. Support the mission of the GSAM
2. Participate in committee meetings (frequency varies by group)
3. Keep committee materials and conversations confidential
4. Respond timely to organizational requests
5. Support the majority decision and
6. Be familiar with GSAM Constitution and Bylaws

The Chairpersons of all the standing committees shall serve two year terms or at the pleasure of the President and the Board of Directors, and shall be appointed by the President and approved by the Board of Directors. The members of all committees, with the exception of the Nominating and Membership Committee, shall be appointed by the Chairperson of the respective Committees.
Committee members shall be approved by the Board of Directors. The recommendations of all Committees shall be presented to the Board of Directors for action.
