Reusable, Compostable or Recyclable Dishware and Cutlery
The New York State, Office of General Services (OGS), Procurement Services is conducting a survey on the types of dishware and cutlery used by food service establishments to help determine if there is a need for a centralized (statewide) contract for reusable, compostable or recyclable dishware and cutlery. Examples of dishware include cups, bowls, plates, clamshells and trays, and examples of cutlery include knives, forks and spoons.
Reusable dishware and cutlery are the most environmentally desirable option for food service because reuse has the lowest environmental impacts and can save money when compared to other alternatives using a life cycle basis. Compostable products can also be a sustainable alternative compared to conventional single use dishware when used in conjunction with a composting program, and recyclable products can also help divert waste from landfills when properly recycled.
Please assist us in determining the demand for reusable, compostable and recyclable dishware and cutlery by providing information on the types and annual spend for the products that your organization currently uses.
It’s important for us to understand your perspective and invite you to please take our survey no later than Wednesday, December 18, 2019.
