About the Council:

The LSTA Advisory Council assists the Oregon State Library Board in carrying out the Oregon Library Services and Technology Act Five-Year State Plan by reviewing grant proposals, making recommendations to the Board, evaluating progress in accomplishing the goals of the State Plan, and  advising the Board about other issues concerning the LSTA federal library grant program.

The LSTA Advisory Council consists of thirteen members and is broadly representative of library entities in Oregon, including public, school, academic, and special libraries. Special consideration is given to ensure that geographic areas of the state are represented, as are library users, and representatives of underserved / underrepresented persons.

Process and timeline:

Suggestions will be reviewed and nominees will then be selected. The State Librarian, with the assistance of the Library Support and Development Staff will choose candidates. State Library Board members will appoint new LSTA Council members at their October 28th meeting. It is fine to suggest yourself as well as someone else. Suggestions are being accepted until September 7th.

Please call Ann Reed at 503-378-5027 with any questions and for more information.

The LSTA Advisory Council meets twice a year in person. Meetings are for a day and a half in mid-May and a day in mid-September. Additional meetings may be held by phone or other means. Travel expenses, but not substitute labor, are covered for LSTA Advisory Council Members.
