Volunteer Vacation: Feb 28 - Mar 2, 2025 - Volunteer/Staff and Campsite Registration Form

Step into history and help restore (save) the Vallecito Stagecoach Station! This legendary sod structure, located at Vallecito County Park, was a vital stop on the first reliable overland mail routes, the San Antionio to San Diego Mail Line in 1857 and the Butterfield Overland Mail Line of 1858. Additionally, it is the only remaining sod structure in California! Now, you can help restore this irreplaceable landmark and keep it standing for generations to come.

Volunteers will help in many different ways, including:

Preparing adobe bricks that will be used during the event
Mixing mud to be used as mortar
Installing adobe bricks
Preparing and serving food to volunteers and staff
Setup and put away campsites
and more.....

What's included?

Free campsite at Agua Caliente County Park
Meals and snacks served throughout the weekend
Special volunteer T-shirt as a thank you give
Hands-on experience with traditional adobe and sod building techniques
Starlit evenings, campfire camaraderie, and connections with fellow volunteers

Dates of the event:

Friday, February 28 (afternoon/evening check-in and dinner)
Saturday, March 1 (volunteer work projects, all day including all meals)
Sunday. March 2 (volunteer work in the morning following by a to-go lunch and departing the park)
