Amid the historic outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot are ending shelter-in-place orders and beginning the process to re-open the city and state for business.
As the organization that represents the 17,000 physicians in the Chicago metropolitan area, the Chicago Medical Society is gauging the public on whether citizens feel safe to use public transportation, healthcare and other services to resume their daily lives and return to their jobs on site.
As the city and state craft policies and work with public health agencies, the public’s input in how to safely return to work and a normal life is critical. And whether citizens feel safe doing so is also key to the physical and mental health of residents of Chicago and Illinois.
