Producers and Wholesale/Institutional Markets |
Survey Preface
Today there is considerable statewide and regional interest in Farm-to-School and Farm-to-Institution opportunities. The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets and local non-profit partners are interested in learning more about the level of interest Vermont producers have in serving institutional and wholesale markets*.
To help us better understand the current situation, we invite you to complete the following survey, which will provide general information regarding:
- markets presently served
- interest in serving institutional and wholesale markets
- ability to serve and grow for these markets
- types and levels of services and assistance most helpful for producers to access these markets
Please take 8-10 minutes to complete this survey. Your participation is critical to helping us continue to support Vermont’s local food economy. Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary and you can stop at any time. No information that identifies individual businesses will be released to the public.
If you have any questions or problems regarding the survey, please contact:

*For the purposes of this survey, "wholesale markets" will encompass all markets where the purchaser is not the final consumer. Such markets include grocery stores (of all sizes), restaurants, and all institutions. "Institutions" will be defined as any organization, establishment, foundation, or society devoted to the promotion of a particular cause or program, especially one of a public, educational, or charitable character, examples include healthcare facilities (hospitals, nursing homes), colleges and universities, correctional facilities and pre K-12 schools. These distinctions are visualized in a diagram below.
