What is this Pilot Skill Set?
A Leadership and Safety Pilot Skill Set is being explored by a group of employers in partnership with TasTAFE under the Workforce Development and Diversity Project being led by the TFFPN.
The proposed Skill Set would include three units from the Certificate IV in Forest Operations delivered as face-to-face workshops supported by webinars and other online components.
The preferred units, as agreed by the employers are:
- Monitor safety, health and environmental requirements in forest and wood products operations (FWPCOR4204);
- Monitor and improve forestry operations (FWPCOR4205); and
- Lead effective workplace relationships (BSBLDR413).
Who is the Pilot Skill Set aimed at?
This Skill Set has been identified as providing key training opportunities for three employee cohorts:
- Existing industry employees moving into leadership roles;
- New employees qualified in other sectors with leadership capabilities but not forest industry experience;
- As a career pathway for employees to progress their skills, training and leadership opportunities.
When can it be delivered and how much will it cost?
- The delivery date will depend on employer support, time to develop training materials, and approval from the training regulator for TasTAFE to include the Pilot Skill Set on their scope.
- A late 2023 delivery may be possible if there is commitment to enrolments by employers.
- The cost is to be determined but is not expected to be more than $500 per enrolment.
How can employers be involved?
- A minimum number of 20 enrolments per year is needed for this Pilot Skill Set to be developed.
