NHS Ayrshire & Arran has been in consultation with East Ayrshire Pharmacy regarding its proposed application for a pharmacy at 26 Forbes Avenue, Cumnock, KA18 1HG.

Before any application is made East Ayrshire Pharmacy and NHS Ayrshire & Arran are undertaking a joint consultation exercise to seek the views of local people on this proposed new pharmacy. The consultation aims to gauge local opinion on whether people feel they already have adequate access to pharmacy services, as well as measure the level of local support for the proposed new pharmacy. The information gathered as part of this process will be made available to the Health Board's Pharmacy Practices Committee when it meets to consider the application.

The Community Pharmacy Palliative Care Scheme is a locally allocated service and would be provided should the Health Board feel there is a requirement for the proposed pharmacy to provide it.

Wider Impact:

East Ayrshire Pharmacy believe a new pharmacy is needed in Cumnock to ensure patients receive adequate provision of pharmaceutical services within their local area.

East Ayrshire Pharmacy believes that it can remedy the inadequacies of pharmaceutical care already on offer within the town by offering a prescribing pharmacist who would be readily available for face to face consultations with patients. This would be available seven days a week with extended opening hours to what is already available within the area.

With Cumnock town rapidly growing it is important to ensure the healthcare needs of the town are able to be met. East Ayrshire Pharmacy believe this pharmacy is necessary to achieve adequacy in the local community.
