Thank you for your interest in sharing your skill set and experience through volunteering with the Coos Watershed Association during the Mayfly Festival at Mingus Park on May 17, 2025! The Mayfly Festival wouldn't be possible without the creativity, support, and commitment of individuals like you. Booth Assistants will work with a Booth Leader who needs help with their activity booth. Some booths only have one individual running them, making taking breaks difficult during the festival. CoosWA will connect the Booth Assistant with the Booth Leader as far as in advance as possible so that the Booth Assistant will feel comfortable in that role.

Behinds the Scenes Volunteers work with CoosWA and partners before the event to get supplies and materials prepared. There is a lot of work that needs to get done before the Mayfly Festival can kick off. CoosWA will be hosting prep parties to create materials for the art tent, construct signs, and other important pre-event activities. If you love arts and crafts, check this box!

Translators will assist the public during activities, either at booths or at the stage.

Floating Volunteers will assist in a variety of logistical tasks during the day of the festival, such as transporting needed supplies, and providing assistance/relief to individuals running booths if needed. If you're a helper/fixer who can think quickly and creatively, check this box!

Greeters will welcome participants to the festival and make sure they know where to go (we will fill you in on the layout and important info to share ahead of time).

Art Tent Volunteers will oversee the activities in the art tent, such as helping people make wings and headbands, keeping supplies stocked and organized, etc. Be prepared to get crafty and potentially messy, as this will be a fun and colorful, hands-on experience for both attendees and volunteers.

Face Painters will, you guessed it, paint faces! Please come up with a display your designs for participants to choose from. We will provide the face paint supplies.

Green Team Volunteers will help manage waste from the festival by making sure the appropriate materials are being recycled, put in the garbage, or composted. Green Team Volunteers will also check on the water station and make sure everything is orderly.

Festival Mascots will wear the beloved mayfly and salmon costumes and share ecology-themed messages. We also welcome new mascot designs!

Photographer/Videographers will capture the excitement and energy of the Mayfly Festival. Even if you do not choose this volunteer role, you may send Mayfly related photos to kklietz@cooswatershed.org.
