Thank you for your interest in the American Academy of Pediatrics Health Care Transition from Pediatric to Adult Care for Youth with Spina Bifida Transition ECHO! This project is funded through a cooperative agreement between the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities.
Project ECHO® (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is an innovative hub and spoke program, designed to create knowledge networks by connecting health care providers with an expert team through a tele-mentoring program using brief lectures and case‐based presentations.
The AAP ECHO program serves as an interactive forum for pediatricians, pediatric specialists, nurses and social workers that provide medical care to children with spina bifida to increase their knowledge, skills and self-efficacy regarding effective strategies and best practices in promoting successful transitional care services and transitional care programs. The 9 ECHO sessions will be conducted two times per month for 1 hour combining both a brief lecture presentation and de-identified, provider cases. We encourage practices that care for patients who are Latino to participate in this ECHO.
Note: Full multi-disciplinary teams are encouraged to apply. CME and CE are available to physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and social workers. Physicians may also receive MOC part 2. New this cohort: This program is Approved by the National Association of Social Workers (Approval #886367139-9944 ) for 9 continuing education contact hours.
The first ECHO session is February 1, 2024, at 12pm CT, 1pm ET, 11am MT and 10 am PT. ECHO sessions will be held at the same time on the following dates. February 1, 15 and 29; March 14 and 28; April 11 and 25; and May 9 and 23.
All ECHO sessions occur virtually using Zoom video conference technology. Participants are expected to join using video as this makes for a more interactive and impactful session. Only the lecture presentations are recorded for both synchronous and asynchronous observations.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis with first come, first served.
