Welcome to our survey aimed at improving the lives of cancer patients and survivors!

We are sharing this survey with you in order to try and build up a better picture about the problems people are experiencing in their lives after or during the period of illness. While each country has its own legislation and ways of dealing with problems, we are finding there are many similarities across borders in terms of employment issues and access to insurance. For example, many people are still unfairly losing their jobs or not being allowed time off for treatment by employers who do not know what the implications of a cancer diagnosis might mean. In many cases too, survivors are being charge unreasonably high premiums by insurance companies. If any of these have happened to you, and even if they have not, we would like to hear from you so we can understand the kinds of challenges patients may or may not be facing.

At the end of the survey, there is an opportunity to tell us what you think about our work and to join our group either as an active member or just to receive information if you would like to join the campaign for greater equality for cancer patients in Europe.

The Patient Support Working Group (PSWG) was established in The Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL) in 2008. It is made up of patient support professionals from ECL member leagues. The PSWG currently works in three main areas: employment and cancer, improving access to private insurance for cancer patients and survivors and psychosocial screening and support.
