About this survey

This brief survey is intended for all primary care providers (GP practices / both clinical and non-clinical) who support patients experiencing homelessness across London. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and the deadline for completion is 31st of July 2024

People experiencing homelessness are at higher risks of developing cancers and their mortality due to cancer is twice that of the general population. Screening and early detection dramatically increases the likelihood that cancers can be treated and resolved, but the Unhealthy State of Homelessness research shows that cancer screening rates are much lower for people experiencing homelessness than the general population.

The North Central London Cancer Alliance is currently running a project to improve access and participation in cancer screening for people experiencing homelessness (PEH), in collaboration with local and regional partners. This project focuses on identifying barriers and implementing reasonable adjustments to facilitate the participation of PEH in cancer screening. Currently, these adjustments are being piloted in North Central London to enhance access and participation in screening services for this vulnerable population. Homeless Link has been commissioned to capture the learnings from the project through a process evaluation. The aim is to inform London-wide roll out of reasonable adjustments based on the pilot delivered in North Central London.

As part of the evaluation, we aim to gather insights on existing processes and opportunities within primary care settings that seek to improve access and participation in cancer screening for PEH. Additionally, we would like to capture primary care providers’ perspectives on the existing barriers to supporting PEH in accessing cancer screening and identify opportunities for improvement to support this agenda.

Your input is invaluable, and we appreciate your time and effort in completing this survey.
