Eligibility for the Safety Awards Program is accomplished by completing the following:
  • Member Company submits the Energy Workforce Annual Safety Awards Application form by the established deadline: June 9, 2023
  • Participating member has been an active Member in good standing for the entire calendar contest year
  • Participating Member has reported a minimum of 10,000 exposure hours during the calendar year of the contest

Injuries and illnesses that are recordable are those that result in:
  • Death
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Days away from work
  • Restricted work activity or job transfer
  • Medical treatment beyond first aid
  • Significant cases as diagnosed by a physician or other licensed health care professional

The formula used for calculating an incident rate is as follows:
Total # of recordable injuries and illness x 200,000 manhours divided by
Total exposure hours worked = Incident Rate
All participating members with total recordable incident rate decreasing 25% or more of the previous year’s total recordable incident rate incidence rate will be presented a "President's Recognition of Safety Improvement".
