Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation Al Johnson Professional Development Scholarship Application

The Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation is accepting applications from Parks and Recreation Professionals for professional development opportunities. The scholarship for up to $1,000 was established in memory of Parks and Recreation legend Al Johnson, long time Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Richardson, Texas, past-president of TRAPS and founding member of the Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation.

Applicants must be employed by a Texas Parks and Recreation agency.
Awardees will be asked to write an article for publication on how the professional development scholarship benefitted them after attending requested training/school/conference.
Scholarship recipients are strongly encouraged to attend the Texas Recreation and Park Society Annual Conference to accept the award. The conference dates are February 27 - March 1, 2024 in Galveston, Texas.
