GUIDING THE JOURNEY, A Transition Training for Parents is a collaboration between the WV Parent Training and Information, Inc. and the WV Guideposts to Graduation, supporting parents and caregivers of transition-age students.

Thank you for your interest in GUIDING THE JOURNEY, A Transition Training for Parents Collaborative.
The collaborative will meet between October 2023 and May 2024.  We estimate the monthly time commitment to average 1.5 – 2.0 hours.
Meetings and activities will be virtual.
We will have 25 parents/caregivers in each group.
All participating members:
·         Will be parents, caregivers, or family members.
·         Must have youth aged 14-15 or 16+  preparing for post-secondary transition
·         Youth must have a disability and an IEP or 504
·         Will accept younger students if there is space (student must have disability and IEP or 504)

Participant selection will be based on the following areas of priority:
1.       Diversity
2.       Geographical representation and need
3.       Disability
4.       Race
5.       Ethnicity

GUIDING THE JOURNEY, A Transition Training for Parents (GtJ) will begin in October 2023 and end in May 2024.  GtJ provides training, information, resources, national and community speakers, and individual support during this training. We only ask for a commitment to attendance for the virtual sessions to enable you to receive full benefit.

Guiding the Journey will meet each month for a two-hour session. The session will be scheduled during the weekday evening hours. An alternative Saturday session will be available to support families unable to participate during the weekday.

WV Parent Training and Information looks forward to providing parents and caregivers with training as you begin and continue the transition process with your child.
