Comfort Lake – Forest Lake Watershed District is looking for a new location for our offices. We’ve been working on this for some time, because we knew our current building didn’t meet our needs and was being sold. We are turning to our partners and stakeholders to get their thoughts on our organization, our work, and our future building. We see opportunities and potential for public meeting spaces, demonstration projects, and other water focused activities.
Our focused and purposeful style of approaching our efforts in the watershed have been very successful. We have met 92% of our phosphorus reduction goals to improve lake water quality. We continue to think outside the box for tackling the big water quality issues our communities face, such as building flooding resiliency for our watershed and communities.
Cost-benefit is always considered for Comfort Lake-Forest Lake projects, and it will be a strong consideration during our office search. We have received $6.1 million in grants over the last 10 years and are slated to receive another $2.4 million in 2023. We are proud to be the number one recipient of Clean Water Project & Practices grant funds in Minnesota over the last nine years. We are strongly committed to protecting the investment of taxpayers and are actively looking for funding opportunities and partnerships for our new offices.
