Railway Building Oswestry

What stories can this building tell?

Donald Insall Associates is working on behalf of Shropshire Council to capture your stories and memories of the former Cambrian Railway Station. These will be shared at a public event in the summer, which is being delivered as part of Shropshire Council’s ambitions to return the building to full use.

We’d be very grateful if you could give us five minutes of your time to answer the questions below.
Your memories of the Cambrian Station:
What are your oldest memories of the station? Do you have any connections?
Until 1966 trains ran from Oswestry to the coast and along the mainline and served local quarries and industry. Did you ever use the line and, if so, for what?
Do you remember using the station building? Can you describe how it looked while it was still in railway use?
Since the railway closed the station building has been an auction house, DIY store, pharmacy, restaurant and Tourist Information Centre, as well as other uses. Do you have any memories of these?
What do you think makes the station building important, and why?
