Town of Old Lyme Public Notice to Taxpayers Survey |
Town of Old Lyme Public Notice Survey
The Town of Old Lyme currently spends a part of its budget on legal public notices. The Town seeks to know which daily newspapers its constituents subscribe to and read. In addition to legal notices posted in newspapers local to Old Lyme, the Town posts Legal Notices of Town Meetings and Referendums (between November 1 and May 1) in newspapers covering the Greater Hartford, New Britain, and Springfield, MA areas to meet the needs of the greatest number of its seasonal residents.

Town Ordinance 41-1 reads:
Article I. Publication of Notices
[Adopted 5-19-1958]
41-1. Duty of Selectmen.
[Amended 1-27-2003]
In addition to the notices required by law, the Selectmen are directed to advertise legal notices for each special and regular Town Meeting occurring between November 1 and May 1, in which appropriations in excess of $25,000 are to be acted upon, in newspapers of general circulation in Hartford and New Britain, Connecticut, and Springfield, Massachusetts.
