OBETZ TREE CANOPY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Help Us Grow Our Canopy!

The City of Obetz is excited to announce the Tree Canopy Improvement Project, aimed at increasing tree canopy coverage to combat rising temperatures, improve air quality, and create a healthier environment for all residents.

Currently, our city has only about 22% tree canopy coverage, which is below the ideal level for creating cooler, greener neighborhoods. With Central Ohio expected to grow to 3 million people by 2050, preserving and expanding our tree canopy is more important than ever.

We are focusing on planting street trees in neighborhoods, particularly in areas that need more green space, cleaner air, and improved health outcomes. The project is supported by a $100,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, and will also address environmental issues such as particle pollution and toxic air releases.
