Background and Purpose

Dear Student Applicant:

Birthing Cultural Rigor®, LLC (BCR) is excited to offer the first and only "Black Woman-Person Focused" community-designed and led summit to address obstetric racism as an adverse event. To date, traditional efforts in quality improvement (QI) and implementation science (ImpSci) focus on improving quality, safety, and equity by measuring and monitoring "clinical outcomes" and designing and endorsing pathology-driven safety bundles and initiatives. As the Chief Black Feminist Physician Scientist, Founding CEO, and Owner of Birthing Cultural Rigor, Dr. Karen A. Scott, MD, MPH, FACOG, is disrupting traditional safety ethics, theories, measures, meanings, and methodologies.
Obstetric Patient Safety Summit (OPSS) 2025 is uniquely designed by, for, and with individuals, industries, associations, and organizations that impact Black women, girls, and gender expansive individuals, and their given and chosen communities during (in)fertility, pregnancy, miscarriage, abortion, labor, birth, postpartum, lactation, and perinatal mood and and anxiety disorders.
Our OPSS 2025 theme is Championing Birth Justice for and with Black and Native Youth.
Prior to your OPSS 2025 participation as a student, you must first complete the online OPSS 2025 Student Registration, select your OPSS 2025 registration package, and submit a letter of good standing. The letter of good standing must be written on official school letterhead and come from a Dean, Director, Advisor, or other Chief Student Affairs Officer, indicating that you are a student in good standing for academic and judicial affairs.
Upon receipt, review, and approval of your online student registration and student letter of good standing, BCR will send you an invoice with information to remit payment to BCR based on your selected OPSS 2025 registration package.
Important To Note: BCR is offering student discounts for the first 20 students who submit their complete OPSS 2025 registration and letter of good standing on a first come, first served basis.
Be sure to check, double-check, and triple-check your responses before you press submit. The registration application takes about 30 minutes to complete.
