Scholarship Application Deadline January 5, 2024 at 11:59pm ET

NLIHC believes in the active participation of low-income people in all areas of our work, including our annual Housing Policy Forum in Washington, DC. A limited number of scholarships are available and will cover shared lodging and travel costs for low-income people to attend. Scholarship recipients must be current, dues paying NLIHC members and pay the $100 Forum registration fee. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

TERMS

* 1. Please read the following expectations for receiving a hotel scholarship. Check the box to indicate your commitment to each.

Scholarship recipients are required to attend the Pre-Forum Tenant Sessions on Monday, March 24 (starting at 2pm ET) and Tuesday, March 25; all Forum sessions on Tuesday, March 25 and Wednesday, March 26; and Capitol Hill Day on Thursday, March 27 (concluding by 4pm ET or when you need to leave to travel home).

Only those who are current, dues paying NLIHC members and who have paid the $100 Forum registration fee are eligible to receive a scholarship. (To check your membership status or learn more about membership, contact outreach@nlihc.org.)

All scholarships are for shared lodging. NLIHC staff will match you with a hotel roommate of the same gender unless you indicate a specific person to be your roommate. Roommates also must submit an application and meet all requirements.

All scholarships are for three nights of lodging at the Hilton Capitol Hill (checking in Monday, March 24 at 3pm ET and checking out Thursday, March 27 at 11am ET). You must arrange lodging for any additional nights you plan to stay in DC.

If I opt into the travel reimbursement, I understand I must sign the separate travel reimbursement terms agreement issued by NLIHC and complete and return an expense form with receipts in order to receive my reimbursement. (See below for more info and opt out option.)

I understand if I do not respond to communication from NLIHC regarding the scholarships, adhering to all deadlines, I will forfeit my scholarship.

IMPORTANT SCHOLARSHIP DATES AND DEADLINES

December 4: Scholarship applications are open on a first come, first serve basis.

January 5: Scholarship applications due.

January 8: Scholarship recipients notified. Additional applicants will be placed on a waitlist until February 5.

February 5: Deadline for scholarship recipients to pay NLIHC membership dues (if not already current) and the $100 Forum registration fee. After this date, those who have not paid will forfeit their scholarship to someone on the waitlist.

February 7: Individuals on the waitlist will be notified of whether we will be able to offer a scholarship to them.

February 21: Deadline for scholarship recipients notified on February 5 (from waitlist) to pay NLIHC membership dues (if not already current) and the $100 Forum registration fee.

April 10: Deadline for submitting travel reimbursement form.
