Introduction

The Government has recently launched a public engagement exercise asking for people’s views on how they can build a health service fit for the future.

It is crucial that carers’ views are considered as part of this process to ensure the 10 year plan the Government develops clearly recognises the vital role unpaid carers play, and provides carers with the support they urgently need from the NHS.

We want to see an NHS plan published which recognises unpaid carers throughout, and has specific measures which will directly support unpaid carers. We need your help to do that.

Carers UK will be responding to and engaging with Government. While we already have a lot of evidence from carers from our annual State of Caring survey, there are some insights we are missing on the specific questions Government are asking. We would also like your views on shaping NHS priorities so that we are able to share these with the NHS.

Please note that this survey is only for unpaid carers – i.e people providing unpaid care or support to a family member, friend or neighbour who is disabled, has an illness or long-term condition, or who needs extra help as they grow older.

It is also for carers in England only, as the Government survey only relates to NHS England.
