Open Positions:

The Treasurer is responsible for managing the Association’s financial affairs in partnership with the Executive Director (ED). In addition to chairing the Finance Committee, the Treasurer also serves on the Executive Committee (EC) alongside the President, Vice President, and Secretary. Chaired by the President, the EC serves as the Association’s de facto Personnel Committee. As Chair of the Finance Committee, the Treasurer works with the ED to set the annual budget for the Association, submit annual taxes, and manage financial compliance initiatives. In collaboration with the ED and EC, the Treasurer also spearheads fundraising campaigns and the grant writing process and oversees the process for granting Association scholarships and grants.

The Secretary is responsible for managing NWSA’s corporate records and ensuring compliance with non-profit operations in partnership with the Executive Director (ED). This includes keeping and distributing minutes for Governing Council (GC or Board) and Executive Committee (EC) meetings, Membership Assembly, and other relevant convenings. Along with the President, Vice President, and Treasurer, the Secretary also serves on the EC. Chaired by the President, the EC serves as the Association’s de facto Personnel Committee. The Secretary also brings their insights and expertise as a thought partner in the process of amending our bylaws, developing policies/procedures for GC operations, facilitating on-boarding for newly elected Board members, and supporting other Association initiatives, like our Book Awards Committee.

Members-at-Large are primarily responsible for representing and advocating for the Association’s expansive membership. They may also serve as Member Liaison, which focuses on fostering seamless communication between the membership, National Office, and Governing Council (GC or Board) and serving as an advocate and conduit for Constituency Groups and their leaders. Members-at-Large also serve on the Finance or Elections Committees. Chaired by the Treasurer, the Finance Committee safeguard NWSA’s fiscal health and integrity, which includes appropriate financial planning and reporting, developing and implementing policies that protect the Association’s assets, approving the annual budget, filing required legal documents, and fundraising. Chaired by the Vice President, the Elections Committee fosters leadership and development opportunities, ensures the integrity of elections, and cultivates eligible candidates during elections cycles. Members-at-Large also facilitate our new NWSA Care Communities.

The Women of Color Caucus* (WoCC) Co-Chairs lead one of NWSA’s largest constituency groups through regular check-ins and meetings, as well as programming and community-building opportunities. The WoCC holds one official voting seat on the Governing Council (GC or Board). Both Co-Chairs attend meetings and share responsibilities associated with Board initiatives, including serving on the Finance or Elections Committees. Chaired by the Treasurer, the Finance Committee safeguard NWSA’s fiscal health and integrity, which includes appropriate financial planning and reporting, developing and implementing policies that protect the Association’s assets, approving the annual budget, filing required legal documents, and fundraising. Chaired by the Vice President, the Elections Committee fosters leadership and development opportunities, ensures the integrity of elections, and cultivates eligible candidates during elections cycles. The WoCC also supports the Women of Color Leadership Project (WoCLP).
