If you dream of an India where Sarkaar, Bazaar and Samaaj value nonprofit organisations (NPOs) as vital contributors to India’s development, here is the opportunity for you to join the collective action by NPOs!

The journey so far
A group of NPOs concerned about the increasing difficulties faced by the sector, has taken up a collective effort to change the present narrative of the sector through a research study. The group is on a mission to document credible evidence of the contribution of nonprofit organisations, widely disseminate the findings and constructively engage with government, business and citizens. What could be a better time for this initiative than India@75! The study consists of a sector-wide survey, thematic reports and macro-economic research. The report titled India’s Million Missions (with Phase 1 of the NPO Survey) was launched at the Jaipur Literature Festival in Jan 2023. Click here to download the same.

What you can do now!
This is Phase 2 of the NPO Survey. We seek participation of NPOs from every part of India. The only requirement is that your organisation should be registered as a not for profit (trust/ society/ section 8 or formerly section 25 company). We need you to respond to every single question. Respond to questions about your organisation: what you do, where you work, how many people you engage as staff and volunteers, how many people you directly reach, your collaborations, the institutions you strengthen, how was your work impacted by COVID, the trends you see and your key narratives. Your information will be treated with utmost confidentiality. Only aggregate findings and trends will be in the report. Your organisation specific information will be shared only with the analysts within the group. Please note if you do not complete the form for some reason, the portion you have completed will be used for analysis.

You are likely to take 1 to 2 hours to complete this exercise. At the most you may need half a day with your team to gather information to fill the form. Is it not better to invest 2 hours NOW to build the narrative of our collective impact, than to spend several hours and thousands of Rupees doing endless paperwork, individually, to keep proving your contribution to the nation? PLEASE DO NOT DELETE YOUR HISTORY/ CLEAR CACHE TILL YOU COMPLETE THE SURVEY AND SUBMIT THE FORM. YOU CAN COME BACK TO THE FORM AND COMPLETE IT IN 2-3 SITTINGS USING THE SAME DEVICE, IF YOU DO NOT CLEAR YOUR BROWSER HISTORY.

The phase 1 report is already helping funders, regulators, intermediaries understand the dimensions of the NPO sector and how they could prioritise their interventions, re-orient their approaches and make their strategies effective in supporting the work of NPOs. The more you share, the more accurate will be the survey findings, enabling better decisions for greater impact! Your participation will certainly make a difference!
