MERS provides presentations and webinars that are aimed at being highly engaging while having the strong potential to reduce threats to marine life and boaters. A very high priority is to update boaters on the laws and best practices to reduce threats to whales which includes our research on Humpback Whales and how to reduce the threats of collision and entanglement.
The increase in the number of Humpbacks off the coast of British Columbia is so fortunate but necessitates increased awareness from boaters because Humpbacks behave so differently than the whale species boaters are more accustomed to i.e. Orca.
We of course have limited capacity and must weigh out the potential conservation gains of our presentations and webinars against associated costs. To facilitate this evaluation, please fill out the following information. Requests will be reviewed weekly and we will reach out as soon as we can.
Note that, as an alternative, it is also possible to view our recorded presentations at https://mersociety.org/courses-events/ under the Recorded Webinars section.
