Workshop Feedback Survey - Information Page

About NSF NDSA: The NSF National Data Science Alliance (NDSA) invited faculty and staff from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to participate in interactive data science workshops. Topics were chosen to upskill and expand knowledge in various areas of data science, coding, data manipulation, machine learning, AI, analytics, curriculum development, and pedagogy. We offered a variety of workshops and diverse schedules aimed at providing opportunities to engage in data science across HBCU institutions and disciplines.

Purpose: Please reflect on the workshop and let us know what worked and what needs improvement. Your input is valuable to us as we plan future workshops. Your feedback is important to us!

Timeline: For each workshop you attend, please submit your feedback by COB within 3 weeks after the workshop, if not sooner. We cannot process stipends until this is complete.

Deliverables:
Those who accept the participation in the workshop agree to:
  • Attend all days and sessions.
  • Be ready to engage, focus on the task at hand, and not
  • participate in other activities during the workshop.
  • Complete a 2-page reflection report on how the information learned can be used in an upcoming course or research project, due upon completion of the workshop.
  • Participate in pre- and post-surveys.

Reflection Report: Please download the Reflection Report instructions HERE. The Reflection Report provides you an opportunity to reflect on the workshop and how it will enhance your teaching and/or research. Note that your report is to have five sections in a 2-page PDF document.

Header: In the header of the Reflection Report, please include your full name, discipline, AUC institution, date of workshop, and workshop title.

Sections: The Reflection Report should address each of the following items, and each item should be a section in the Reflection Report:
  1. Skills or abilities I gained or enhanced by taking this workshop, either in data science or otherwise
  2. Challenges I encountered in this workshop and strategies I utilized to overcome these challenges
  3. How I plan to develop or enhance a course or research project based on what I learned in the workshop (be as specific as possible)
  4. How what I learned in this workshop will help me achieve my goals as they relate to teaching and/or research
  5. How what I learned in this workshop can help me advance in my career trajectory
Informed Consent: By filling out this survey, you give consent to participate in a research study about the NSF funded National Data Science Alliance and approved by Clark Atlanta University (#HR2023-11-1238-1/A). The survey should take about 45 minutes to an hour of your time. There are no foreseeable risks or benefits to you for participating in this study. This research will inform the impact of this program on your data science pursuits and provide recommendations for improvements.

Your responces will remain anonymous and your answers will be kept confidential. We will not be using your name or any other identifying information in the study. The only people who will have access to your data are the NDSA research team members.

If at any point you have any questions about this study or and your participation in this study, please do not hesitate to reach out to Dr. Talitha Washington (email: twashington@cau.edu).

Thank you very much for your participation and we are looking forward to receiving your feedback!
