Purpose of Study

The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) invites you to make a difference in construction craft training in this country by participating in a research study to quantify the return on investment (ROI) of craft training reflective of the current 2024 construction industry.

We recognize there are many forms of training, but for the purposes of this survey and ROI study, the focus is on formal, technical skills craft training. This is inclusive of all formal training that directly prepares an unskilled worker to be a craft professional in a specific construction trade.

Technical skills craft training in this study does not include separate trainings that are offered for all employees such as mental health awareness, safety, diversity and inclusion training, etc. While these trainings are extremely important and encouraged, only formal training directly related to a specific craft should be included in your responses.

The following survey is intended to capture information from contractors on their direct hire craft employees. Data will be used to determine an updated ROI for craftworker training that will benefit all sectors of the industry. Additionally, the information can be leveraged to encourage additional support for training investments.

The survey is comprehensive and should take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. If you received this survey but are not the best person to complete the information, we ask that you forward it to whomever is most appropriate. A pdf of the survey is available for review in advance of survey completion in the online SurveyMonkey platform.

We recommend collecting all requested information before beginning the online survey. You can return to the survey and resume where you left off and/or edit previous responses until you click the Done button at the end. However, in order to do so, you must return to the same device and web browser used to start the survey.

Your time and effort are greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or comments regarding the survey or the larger NCCER ROI study, please contact Dr. Julie Bokor, jbokor@nccer.org or Jennifer Wilkerson, jwilkerson@nccer.org.

Thank you!!
