Introduction

Insurance companies are increasingly interfering with patient care by making coverage changes that force patients to switch to cheaper, insurer-preferred drugs -- regardless of medical concerns. This practice, known as "non-medical switching," can lead to unintended health consequences, including increased symptoms, unwanted side effects, and even relapse.

Through a survey created by U.S. Pain Foundation, we are gathering information from patients who have experienced non-medical switching and the clinicians who treat them. This information will help us positively influence state legislation to end this unfair insurance practice. The patient portion of the survey takes 10-20 minutes to complete; the clinician portion takes 5-10 minutes.

Disclaimer: This survey was created to gain a better understanding of the impact of non-medical switching, with its data to be used for state advocacy purposes. Participants may be contacted by U.S. Pain Foundation if media opportunities are made available to further educate lawmakers and the community as to the implications of non-medical switching. The information in this survey is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. We do not recommend the self-management of health problems. We cannot and do not give you medical advice.
