What is the project about?
This survey is part of a project led by University of Adelaide’s Professor Melissa Nursey-Bray showcasing the ‘Fab Five’ to visually engage the community about the values in Australian Marine Parks. The five charismatic marine species are Great White Shark, White-bellied Sea Eagles, Australian Sea Lions, Giant Australian Cuttlefish and the Southern Right Whale.
In developing visual and digital platforms to engage the community and increase awareness of the values in Australian Marine Parks we are consulting with the community about their knowledge and interests relating to marine parks. Park managers have found that awareness and understanding of Australian Marine Parks is low. The results from this survey will help to improve the way information can be shared about marine parks and the important habitats and species they help to protect, including the Fab Five.
In undertaking this survey you will not be identified in any way and all results will be anonymous. In proceeding to do the survey, you are giving consent to participate. Please note that the data you provide may be used in the future by the same researchers or de-identified and shared with other researchers, or provided to the Australian Government who provided funding for this project through the Our Marine Parks Grant program.
The study has been approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee at the University of Adelaide (approval number H-2022-049). This research project will be conducted according to the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research 2007 (Updated 2018).
