NOYS 2024 Virginia Vision Zero Youth Ambassadors Program Application |
The Vision Zero Youth Ambassador Program aims to address the pressing issue of pedestrian safety, focusing on the disproportionate impact on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities in Virginia. The program's goal is to equip BIPOC youth aged 15-29 with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to combat pedestrian deaths and injuries in their communities.
Ambassadors will participate in a 5-month educational and community engagement experience addressing pedestrian safety. This program harnesses the power of digital storytelling, advocacy, and community engagement to design interventions that prioritize pedestrian safety. Participants will receive a stipend of up to $300 (not grant funded) as well as seed intervention funding for their participation in the Fellowship.
Application Criteria:
A successful applicant should:
- Identify as a person of - Black, Indigenous and People of Color (Race/ethnic background)
- Be between the ages of 15-29 as of November 1, 2023
- Have interest in transportation safety, changing the environment around you, and social justice.
- Have any passion or interest in transportation and health issues
- Demonstrate good public speaking and presentation skills
