Request Form for Monarch Butterfly Tags

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We greatly appreciate your interest in Monarch butterflies. This survey form will inform you of and allow you to work through the requirements for obtaining monarch butterfly tags. Tagging butterflies is part of a citizen science research effort, and requires permitting through the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

In order to request tags you will be required to:

1) Have experience tagging or sampling for O.e. (if you need experience please check back later - we are still building the training web site!).

2) Submit this request form in its entirety.
3) Submit a back yard garden survey (link below) if you have not already done so.

In order to participate in the citizen science research (tags are distributed solely for that purpose) you will be required to:

5) Not share tags with others but use them solely for the garden registered here (see below).
6) Have handling mortality (through the course of tagging) of no more than two monarchs per year.

I do not cut back my milkweed plants in the fall, and generally there are leaves left all winter.

I do not cut back my milkweed plants because they get defoliated (all the leaves get eaten!) every fall (by Nov or Dec).
