Michigan Native American Boarding School Study |
Community Engagement and Truth Sharing Session Registration
Purpose: In partnership with MI Tribes, this effort seeks to better understand the broad Indian Boarding School experience in Michigan. Voices of those who attended Boarding schools, survivors, their descendants, families and communities will be amplified.
What We Hope to Learn: Community Engagement Talking Circles and Survivor Truth Sharing sessions will allow us to learn more about the Michigan Boarding school experience.
Several Ways to Participate: The following Community Engagement Talking Circles have been scheduled to allow for greater and wider participation to gather input on the impacts of Indian Boarding Schools on our respective Tribal communities. While the talking circles are not intended to be individual boarding school survivor sharing opportunities, voluntary individual survivor truth sharing sessions are available on-site during our visit. With permission, we will record the Survivor Truths sessions but only share these recordings with permission.
