About this Questionnaire
The development of a national mental health promotion plan has been identified as a priority in Connecting for Life – Ireland’s National Strategy to Reduce Suicide 2015-2020. As part of the development of this Plan, HSE Health & Wellbeing wish to gain an overview of initiatives being delivered by HSE and HSE-funded agencies that aim to enhance the mental health of individuals, families and communities.
Objectives
The findings from this mapping exercise will be used to inform the development of the National Mental Health Promotion Plan by:

As part of the development of this Plan, HSE Health & Wellbeing wish to gain an overview of initiatives being delivered by HSE and HSE-funded agencies that aim to enhance the mental health of individuals, families and communities.
Objectives
The findings from this mapping exercise will be used to inform the development of the National Mental Health Promotion Plan by:
- Providing an overview of mental health promotion activity currently being delivered by HSE and HSE-funded agencies
- Identifying potential gaps in priority areas/settings
- Identifying examples of good practice.
Scope
Activity that is included:
- Any initiative, project or training that promotes the mental health of individuals, families, organisations or communities as one of its primary objectives.
- HSE or HSE funded (part or fully).
- National or regional initiatives, project or training.
Examples of relevance include initiatives related to:
- Promoting self-esteem, resilience, enhanced coping skills and behaviours that promote and protect mental health.
- Enhancing social connectedness and social supports e.g “social prescribing”
- Supporting family life e.g parenting programmes
- Stress reduction e.g “Stress control”
- Community development initiatives to improve mental health
- Reducing stigma and promoting recovery of mental health service users.
Please note the above is not an exhaustive list of examples.
Activity that is excluded:
- Initiatives that are short-term or once-off and do not have funding beyond the next 6 months.
- Suicide prevention training e.g Assist and safeTALK
- Activity focused on the treatment of mental illness.

- The questionnaire can be completed online at the link below and will take approximately 15 minutes to complete if you have all the necessary information to hand.
- Please complete a separate questionnaire for each initiative.
- The closing date for completed surveys has been extended until Friday May 12th.
